Corrosion – Vanquished by Truth

Today’s topic is a difficult one.  I would prefer to write a positive, encouraging blog, even on what is a destructive topic. I will attempt, at minimum, a half-turn, so that by the end of the blog there is light.

The terms “corrosion” and “rust” are often used interchangeably.  Rust, which is more of a metallic destruction, is a type of corrosion.  However, the term “corrosion” can also be used to describe deterioration in other materials, such as ceramics.

Matthew 6 verses 20 and 21 instruct us to “lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” We are offered a safe place of refuge.

We live in a world where the very leaders of our society “bear false witness” frequently. Our journalists have found that the course of least resistance in mankind is negativity.  Giving up emotionally is easy.  It is endorsed by all godlessness.

To be godly in a godless society takes vision.  To have clear vision we must be able to identify cloudy vision.  For those of us who wear prescription glasses, we are very aware of clouded vision.  If I don’t clean my glasses, they quickly go from a help to a handicap.  In the same way, when we don’t clear the “lenses of godliness”, godliness is very quickly replaced with the ungodly.

We can stay in a corrosive environment.  Some people have grown up under parents that seep corrosion.  Or, they may have married a spouse with the same trait. This is difficult.  But not impossible.

We can follow the news.  We can spend hours determining right from wrong.  Truth from untruth.  My friend, you won’t win.  You cannot immerse yourself in a corrosive environment and expect to remain untarnished. We must flee from iniquity.  We must be the bearer of sunshine. We must be a “breath of fresh air”.  We must shun what is evil.

Psalm 34:7 “The angel of the Lord encampeth round about them that fear him, and delivereth them.”  Read the rest of Psalm 34. Place your treasure in heaven.

I Corinthians 3:19a “For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God…”  (v. 21) “Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;” (v. 23) “And ye are Christ’s; and Christ is God’s.”Have a pleasant day.
