The Serenity Prayer
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.

Published in 1951, this writing has been instrumental in much thought process.
We live in a time that may be the most blame-charged in recent history. The power of hatred has been unleashed.
One of the most courageous things we can do is contribute daily to positive comment. When we meet up with discussions on political views, we do well to focus on truth and integrity. Being sober allows us to “get a feel” for those with integrity. To debate political parties is not healthy terrain for us. It is true that in a democratic world, a segment of the population casts a vote.
We are led by People. Not Parties. We use good judgement when we understand that sometimes things must get worse before they can get better. History portrays this. A poor regime is often followed by a healthier regime.
There is wisdom in refraining from being drawn into political debates. Becoming involved easily escalates into mob behaviour. Then, an emotional stampede.
This is not serenity!
